Based on the Law on Sea Ports and Art. 7 of the Law on Institutions, on April 08, 1999, the County Government of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County established the Rab County Port Authority as one of the eight port authorities, for the purpose of managing, using, building and maintaining the port:

  • of county importance: Mišnjak ferry port, Lopar ferry port, Rab port and Supetarska Draga port in Vardaškolj bay, and
  • of local importance: Pudarica, Barbat, Grci, Janići, Keki, Banjol, Padova II, Škver, Sv. Eufemia, Kamporska Draga, Supetarska Draga, Goli otok-Tetina, Goli otok-Melna, Sv. Grgur, Melak Lopar, San Marino Lopar.

Rab County Port Authority is a non-profit legal entity registered in the register of institutions at the Commercial Court in Rijeka. It performs its activities in accordance with Art. 50 of the Law on Maritime Property and Sea Ports ("Official Gazette" No. 158/03, 141/06, 38/09, 123/11, 56/16, 98/19) and includes:

  • taking care of the construction, maintenance, management, protection and improvement of the maritime assets represented by the port area;
  • construction and maintenance of port infrastructure,
  • expert supervision over the construction, maintenance, management and protection of the port area (port substructures and superstructures);
  • ensuring permanent and smooth operation of port traffic, technical-technological unity and safety of navigation;
  • ensuring the provision of services of general interest or for which there is no economic interest of other economic entities;
  • coordination and supervision of the work of concessionaires who perform economic activity in the port area;
  • making a decision on the establishment and management of a free zone in the port area in accordance with the regulations governing free zones;
  • other jobs established by law.

The total area of ​​the port area is 2.338.136 m 2 , of which the land area is 586.136 m 2 , and the area of ​​the sea area is 1.751.203 m 2.

In terms of port superstructure, the port authority has a 10-ton crane in the port of Rab and three 5-ton cranes in the ports of Banjol, Kamporska Draga and San Marino.

The Port Authority has 1.749 permanent moorings for resident boats, 130 nautical and 147 concessioned moorings in the port area.
