The goal of the project "Reconstruction and restoration of the coast in the port of Rab" is the reconstruction of the Petr Krešimir IV Coast from jetty 1 to jetty 3 (phase III) and the construction of jetty 3 (phase I-1). Due to the influence of bad weather, port traffic is often interrupted, which negatively affects the traffic connection of the island and creates obstacles to the development of the island. An additional problem is the flooding of the waterfront, which is also a pedestrian connection between the boat dock and the center of the city of Rab. The project intervention will enable the ship to dock safely in all conditions and solve the flooding of the waterfront and, consequently, better sustainability of the line, which will favorably affect the living standards of the islanders. The project envisages the construction of jetty 3 with a total length of about 44 meters, a width of about 8 meters and a surface area of ​​351,60 m2, which will serve for the reception of liner passenger ships and the protection of the port's waters and is part of the operational coast and the reconstruction of the P. Krešimir Coast IV from jetty 1 to jetty 3 with a length of about 365 meters, which forms a narrow coastal strip with the aim of mooring ships in a safe way and ensuring the appropriate height of the coast so that it will no longer be flooded. This reconstruction of the coast will enable a safe pedestrian connection with the guard in all weather conditions, which has been impossible until now in high sea level conditions.

By improving the quality of the infrastructure in the port of Rab, the quality of public maritime transport will be improved, the capacity to accommodate ships in coastal liner shipping will increase, passenger safety will increase, long-term sustainability will be ensured, passenger mobility will increase and the general quality of life will be improved. All of the above has a positive effect on the quality of life of the island population.
The project's goals are in line with regional, local, national and EU strategic documents in the transport sector, as well as with the Competitiveness and Cohesion Operational Program (2014-2020), Priority Axis 7 - Connectivity and Mobility, and where the investment priority with the acronym 7ii is identified: 7ii Development and improvement of environmentally friendly transport systems (including those with low noise level), and transport systems with low CO2 emissions, including inland waterways and maritime transport, ports, multimodal links and airport infrastructure, to promote sustainable regional and local mobility, that is, specific objective 7ii1: Improving the accessibility of inhabited islands for their inhabitants.

The project raises the quality of life of the target group, which is the island's population, and encourages the demographic revitalization of the island of Rab. The future manager of the infrastructure will be the County Port Authority of Rab.
